The
UMKC School of Law was founded more than 100 years ago and is located
in a beautiful area of Kansas City, a diverse metropolitan area of more
than 1.8 million people with an outstanding quality of life.  The
School is an urban public law school with a commitment to teaching and
students that gives it the feel of a small liberal arts college.  It
has had a summer program in China in partnership with Peking University
since 1999, and the University has relationships with a number of
Chinese universities.  Kansas City, the birth place of Edgar Snow, has
a sister city relationship with Xi’an.  The Chinese government recently
established one of its “Confucius Centers” in the metropolitan area.
