A few months ago, when I was out in the market, this would have been great news (from Shanghai Daily):
The average salary in China's urban areas has increased to 16,675 yuan(US$2,233) during the first three quarters of this year, a year-on-year jump of 18.8 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics said today.
Now that I'm safely employed and have as my chief concern the continued financial viability of the office out of which I work, my reaction to that statistic is "Dude, that is so wrong."
Knowing that salaries for a lot of lawyers here are probably going up even faster than 19%, all we can do is wait out this ever-so-interesting market. For those of you still out there, enjoy it while it lasts.
