And the Europeans Get Louder

From the AP:

Many European companies believe China is trying to avoid fully carrying out its free trade pledges to the World Trade Organization and failing to do enough to stop product piracy, according to a survey released Thursday.

"A sizable number of companies still think that China is following the letter of its WTO accession agreement while seeking to circumvent implementation in practice," said a report issued by the European Chamber of Commerce in China.

The chamber said the report was based on a survey of more than 200 European companies in China.

It comes amid mounting complaints that Beijing is violating its trade pledges by nurturing Chinese companies at the expense of foreign rivals.

I guess I should read the EU Chamber report, but I think I already know what it's going to say. Listen, of course China has not fulfilled all of its WTO promises. The question is has it done enough to satisfy most countries out there? A couple of years ago, the answer was a resounding 'yes'. These days it's getting difficult to find solid political backing for China (public support) in the U.S. and EU.
