This One’s a Keeper

My new favorite catch phrase, courtesy of the FT (a good source of stuff today):

Given that almost all the companies behind these deals are controlled by an authoritarian Communist state with a penchant for detailed planning, the investments can sometimes seem like an organised and relentless strategy of international expansion – “The Big Red Chequebook”, as one headline put it.

Given my schedule this week, I didn't really have enough time to write a big post updating this topic.  With all these new funds and the overseas purchase possibilities, not to mention the political overtones, there was a lot to cover.

Nice that with a couple of cute comments, and this very descriptive catch phrase, "The Big Red Chequebook," the message is quite clear.

By the way, that FT story goes on to explain why these deals are not all part of a big coordinated conspiracy by Beijing to dominate the world deal by deal. Thanks, FT, now we can all sleep better at night. I wonder if the US commentators are living in the real world too or are still fighting the Cold War?
