Police are liaising with the media over the arrangements for the 15th anniversary celebration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on July 1.

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee said today Police have conducted an internal review and found some media arrangements should be improved.

He said Police will maintain good communication with the media when political dignitaries visit in future.

Meanwhile, Mr Lee urged protesters to respect the law and not turn to violence. He also asked protesters to respect the rights and privileges of other citizens, and not to challenge Police.

"In the year of 2011, there were over 6,000 gatherings, protest marches in Hong Kong, averaging 18 a day. The majority of these were held in a peaceful environment, but of course on some occasions, we did encounter violent clashes from the protesters."

He said freedom of speech and freedom of expression are protected under the Basic Law, so the Government will do its best to protect these privileges and people's rights.

Lastly, Mr Lee confirmed he will not join the new-term Government.
