The Environmental Protection Department recorded 20 pollution convictions in July.

Six were for air pollution, one was under the environmental impact assessment ordinance, two were for noise, one was under the ozone layer protection ordinance, nine were for improper waste disposal and one was for water pollution.

The month’s heaviest fine – $20,000 – was imposed on a company that constructed or operated a designated project without an environmental permit.
