Police yesterday issued 75 fixed-penalty tickets and 110 summonses to public light bus drivers in a city-wide crackdown to enforce a new legislative amendment and enhance public light bus safety.
Motor vehicle examiners conducted on-the-spot examinations and plainclothes officers on board the buses observed drivers' driving manner.
They checked a total of 280 public light buses. Of five buses detained for inspection, one did not have a speed limiter in good and efficient working order, and the rest had illegal modifications.
Police also issued 60 summonses to passengers for not fastening their seat belts.
