At least 101 people have been rescued after a tug boat and a ferry, carrying 120 people, collided off Lamma Island tonight.

The accident occurred about 8.20pm.

Those rescued were sent to South Horizons Public Pier, Lamma Island, Ruttonjee Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Speaking to the media after tonight's National Day fireworks display, Chief Executive CY Leung said Government agencies did their best to rescue as many people as possible.

Mr Leung said he and the Government will investigate the incident.
