Police will hold a citywide pedestrian road safety campaign from October 3 to 9, which will see stringent enforcement action taken.

Police will issue summonses against people jaywalking or committing other road offences. Verbal warnings will be issued for minor offences.

Officers will distribute publicity leaflets at various locations to enhance road safety awareness and urge the public to comply with road traffic regulations.

There were 2,513 pedestrian casualties between January and August, including 41 fatalities – 27 of them elderly people.
