Customs & Excise officers arrested a 25-year-old man and seized 6.3kg of cocaine worth an estimated $6.45 million yesterday at Hong Kong International Airport.
The man, who arrived from São Paulo, Brazil, was stopped for baggage examination while in transit to Zhuhai by ferry. Officers found the drug in a false compartment of his suitcase.
He will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts this morning.
The maximum penalty for drug trafficking is life in prison and a $5 million fine.
