Police have arrested a taxi driver after his vehicle reportedly struck and killed an elderly woman in Aberdeen.

The 75-year-old woman was pushing a cart along Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road when she was reportedly knocked down by the taxi near Lei Tung Estate about 5.30am today.

She was sent to Queen Mary Hospital where she later died.

The 42-year-old driver was arrested for careless driving.
