Hong Kong and the Czech Republic today signed agreements on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, surrender of people wanted for criminal proceedings, and transfer of sentenced people.

Secretary for Security TK Lai and Czech Consul General Jaroslav Kantůrek signed on behalf of their governments.

"The signing of the three agreements today demonstrates the full commitment of both Hong Kong and the Czech Republic to international legal co-operation and a global approach to tackling cross-boundary crimes," Mr Lai said, adding the signing underlines Hong Kong's strengths under the 'One country, two systems' principle.

The agreements with the Czech Republic are the 29th, 19th and 13th agreements of their kind between Hong Kong and other jurisdictions.
