Police are investigating a traffic accident in North Point tonight in which a 68-year-old man was knocked down by a taxi and later died.

 

The taxi was travelling along King’s Road at about 7.30pm when it struck the man as he was crossing the road near the junction with Oil Street.

 

The man was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital where he died at 7.53pm.

 

Witnesses should call the Police on 3661 1620 or 3106 8849.

Customs officers arrested a 21-year-old man from Colombia for drug trafficking after they seized 6kg of cocaine found in his luggage on his arrival at Hong Kong International Airport yesterday.

 

The drug, with an estimated street value of about $6.25 million, was concealed in the lining of 10 jackets inside his suitcase.

 

The man, who claimed to be a hairstylist, will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates Courts on Monday.

 

The maximum penalty for a drug trafficking conviction is life imprisonment and a $5 million fine.
