The Environmental Protection Department recorded 32 pollution offences in March.

 

Fourteen were for air pollution, 10 for noise control, seven for waste disposal, and one for water pollution.

 

A company that used powered mechanical equipment and carried out construction work in a designated area without a valid construction noise permit has been fined $50,000 for each offence, the highest penalty for the month.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has ordered a siu mei and lo mei shop in Sham Shui Po to suspend business for two weeks.

 

It is on the ground floor at 23D1 Boundary Street.

 

It repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area and allowing staff to prepare food in open space.

 

It was convicted for the breaches in November and February. It was fined $3,500, and registered 15 demerit points under the department's demerit points system.

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei in which a 26-year-old woman died this morning.

 

The woman's car reportedly hit the central divider on Hoi Po Road Flyover while travelling towards Yau Ma Tei at about 2.30am.

 

She was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital with serious injuries, and died at around 4.15am.
