The Monetary Authority has alerted the public to an email purporting to be sent from Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), which connects to a fraudulent website.

 

The email requests customers to follow an embedded hyperlink, and to verify account information by entering the Internet banking account's username and password.

 

The bank says it has not sent these emails and has no connection with the fraudulent website, and has reported the case to Police.

 

Anyone who has provided personal information to the website, or conducted financial transactions through it, should contact the bank at 2886 8868 or Police at 2860 5012.
