Secretary for Security TK Lai started the second leg of his European visit yesterday by meeting German officials in Berlin.
He met State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice Dr Birgit Grundmann, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of the Interior Klaus-Dieter Fritsche, Berlin Senator of the Interior Frank Henkel, and Vice President of the Federal Police Jurgen Schubert.
Mr Lai updated them on Hong Kong's developments, and discussed international co-operation on cross-border crime, immigration matters, and asylum issues.
He said he looked forward to enhanced co-operation in these areas between Hong Kong and Germany in the future.
Today Mr Lai will visit the Berlin Branch Office of the Federal Office for Migration & Refugees.
Before concluding his seven-day visit to London and Berlin, Mr Lai will attend a luncheon hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Federal Republic of Germany Shi Mingde.
Mr Lai will return to Hong Kong on May 8.
