A Malaysian and three Mainlanders were jailed for up to 30 months by the District Court today for conspiracy to obtain services by deception.

They were caught with forged Malaysian passports for an intended trip to Brazil in October 2010.

The 34-year-old Malaysian courier and two of the Mainlanders pleaded guilty and were jailed for up to two years. The third Mainlander was convicted and sentenced to 30 months.

The Mainlanders, aged 18 to 21, used their Chinese passports to depart Hong Kong for Dubai where they picked up forged Malaysian passports from a middleman, who paid the Malaysian courier to assist them. They were stopped by the airline when they attempted to fly to Brazil, and were deported back to Hong Kong.

The four were arrested for conspiring to use forged travel documents and dishonestly obtaining air travel services from an airline.
