SUZHOU, China, May 29 (Xinhua) -- China is very well prepared to face Guam in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday, said its head coach Li Tie.
Li called the tie an encounter with neither side knowing much about each other.
"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Guam did not play any competitive match over more than one year like us, the information we got about them is those of one year ago. What we need to do in the match is to bring out our best," he said.
"We are well prepared and will go all out at tomorrow's match," he said. "My players are now in very good form."
Li said he was not worried about Espanyol striker Wu Lei, who did not train with the Chinese side since he took over in January of 2020.
"There are not many things he is unfamiliar with at the national team, so he has no problem of fitting in. He needs to play more games to enhance telepathy with his teammates," he said.
China will host all the remaining Asian Group A qualifying matches from May 30 to June 15 in Suzhou, where the hosts will face Guam, the Philippines, the Maldives and Syria in succession.
China is currently eight points adrift of group leader Syria and only leads third-placed the Philippines on goal difference. Enditem KEY WORDS:
