Butler/NBAE via Getty Images Team Canada clinched first place in their group and a berth in the semifinals of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament with a 109-79 rout of China on Wednesday night. Canadian national hero RJ Barrett finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. He struggled to finish inside, shooting just 2-7 from inside the arc. He finished 7-8 from inside against Greece, but the Chinese team had a superior collection of tall fellows to challenge RJ at the rim. He was also weak at the free-throw line, shooting just 3-6. C’mon, RJ: You had that free throw problem under control during the NBA season. RJ did find his three-point stroke, however, hitting 3-7 from beyond the arc. Here we see a nice off-the-dribble J from our guy. Side-step 3 for RJ Barrett. I see he has been working on getting space on his jump shot pic.twitter.com/hHoADGFGgQ — Big Knick Energy (@BigKnickEnergy_) July 1, 2021 Another area in which RJ excelled was in distributing the ball to open teammates. He reached the five-assist mark only 14 times during the NBA season, but he has more opportunities to be a playmaker on the national team, and he has been taking advantage.
