Ma Wai-luk has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police from October 1.

He will succeed the resigning Deputy Commissioner (Management) Lee Ka-chiu.

Aged 55, Mr Ma joined the Police as an inspector in 1978. He was promoted to senior superintendent in 1997, chief superintendent in 2002, assistant commissioner in 2007, and senior assistant commissioner in 2010.

He is currently the Director of Personnel & Training.
