Police are investigating technical difficulties that prevented some of its command and control system consoles from communicating with frontline police officers.

The failure occurred at around 11.05 yesterday morning, and affected consoles were switched to a backup mobile radio telephone system within minutes.

The 999 emergency services were not affected.

The system resumed normal operation at 4am today. The cause of the disruption is being investigated.
