Police officers issued 592 fixed-penalty tickets and 43 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations in a crackdown on Hong Kong Island today.

The 273 officers sent to enforce traffic regulations at traffic blackspots on Hong Kong Island issued 468 tickets for illegal parking and 124 for other traffic offences.

A total of 2,499 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to October this year, of which 839 involved pedestrians.
