Police have arrested a 23-year-old van driver after his vehicle reportedly collided with a taxi in Lantau North this afternoon, killing the 54-year-old taxi driver.

The taxi  was travelling along Cheung Tung Road towards Tung Chung while the van was travelling in the opposite direction when the accident occurred at about 1.05pm, near Yam O.

Both drivers and three men and two women passengers aged 54 to 69 inside the van were injured and sent to Princess Margaret Hospital. The taxi driver died at 1.53pm.

Police arrested the driver for dangerous driving causing death.
