Secretary for Security TK Lai said he hoped to achieve further progress in the Manila hostage incident talks, after a positive discussion with the Philippine Government's Cabinet Secretary yesterday.

Speaking to the media today, Mr Lai said the donation given to Yik Siu-ling was to meet her urgent medical needs, and was made without prejudice to the victims' and their family members' four demands.

Both sides will continue to work towards a satisfactory solution, he added, which he believes is also Hong Kong society's common wish.
