{"id":106697,"date":"2021-06-14T22:05:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T14:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mediaintel.asia\/?p=419407"},"modified":"2021-06-14T22:05:00","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T14:05:00","slug":"operator-says-china-nuclear-plant-facing-performance-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chinalegalblog.com\/en\/2021\/06\/14\/operator-says-china-nuclear-plant-facing-performance-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Operator says China nuclear plant facing 'performance issue'"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaintel.asia\/\" title=\"MediaIntel.Asia provides Media Intelligence and Media Monitoring in Asia\" ><img src=\"https:\/\/www.mediaintel.asia\/wp-content\/uploads\/mediaintelasia-logo-blackyellow-400x300-1.png\" border=\"0\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" alt=\"MediaIntel.Asia\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Operator says China nuclear plant facing 'performance issue' Posted June 14, 2021 7:04 a.m. EDTUpdated June 14, 2021 7:05 a.m. EDT By ZEN SOO, Associated Press<br \/>\nHONG KONG \u2014 The French joint operator of a Chinese nuclear plant near Hong Kong said Monday that the plant is dealing with a \u201cperformance issue\u201d but is currently operating within safety limits, following a report of a potential radioactive leak.<br \/>\nThe Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is jointly owned by China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group and French multinational electric utility \u00c9lectricit\u00e9 de France, the main owner of Framotome, which helps operate the plant.<br \/>\n\u201cFramatome is supporting resolution of a performance issue with the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant in Guangdong province, China,\u201d Framatome said in a short statement Monday.<br \/>\n\u201cAccording to the data available, the plant is operating within the safety parameters,\u201d it said. \u201cOur team is working with relevant experts to assess the situation and propose solutions to address any potential issue.\u201d<br \/>\nRadiation levels in Hong Kong, 135 kilometers (85 miles) from the Taishan plant, were normal on Monday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory, which monitors radiation around the city.<br \/>\nCNN reported Monday that Framotome had written to the U.S. Department of Energy warning of an \u201cimminent radiological threat\u201d and accusing Chinese authorities of raising acceptable limits for radiation outside the plant to avoid having to shut it down.
