“Let’s not bicker and argue about who killed who.” The Holy Grail<\/a><\/em> or the iPad trademark dispute? Hard to tell, really.<\/p>\n

The AP has the latest<\/a> on the out-of-court verbal jousting:<\/p>\n

In its latest statement on a simmering dispute over the iPad brand name, Apple Inc. said Tuesday that Proview Electronics\u2019 insistence that it still owns the mainland China iPad trademarks is misleading and unfair.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well, sure, except for the fact that I can look up the ownership on the Intertubes, visit the Trademark Office, and find that Proview does own them. Hmm.<\/p>\n

\u201cProview is misleading Chinese courts and customers with claims that the iPad trademarks cannot be transferred, or that mistakes were made in handling the transaction,\u201d the statement said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Another way to say it is that Proview is arguing about the issue in court using evidence. May the best party win — isn’t the system supposed to work that way?<\/p>\n

So what does Tweedledummer say about that?<\/p>\n

Asked about Apple\u2019s statement, Proview lawyer Xie Xianghui in turn accused Apple of seeking to \u201cmislead the courts, the public and media.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is wrong for Apple to do this,\u201d Xie said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

C’mon Proview, at least give us some details here. Just saying “They’re doing it too” isn’t much of an argument, more like the automatic gainsaying<\/a> of anything the other party says.<\/p>\n

It’s going to be a long wait for that court judgment, people.<\/p>\n
