The Immigration Department and Police today arrested 35 Mainland visitors in an anti-illegal employment crackdown in Sheung Shui.

 

The 28 men and seven women, aged 20 to 61, were arrested for breaching their conditions of stay by being allegedly involved in parallel goods trading in the Advanced Technology Centre.

 

A man and a woman from Hong Kong, aged 30 and 45, were also arrested for allegedly employing illegal workers.

 

Officers seized cartons of baby products, health foods, and cosmetics during the operation.

 

A total of 471 Mainlanders and eight Hong Kong residents have been arrested in parallel goods trading crackdowns since September.

 

Eighty-four Mainlanders have been prosecuted, while the remaining 387 have been repatriated. Among those prosecuted, 76 have been jailed for up to two months.
