Police and Department of Health officers have arrested a 65-year-old woman for the illegal sale of unregistered pharmaceutical product Lidiprine Cream, which contains a Part I poison.

She was arrested in Tuen Mun today after the product was seen being offered for sale on the Internet.

The product is labelled as containing lidocaine, which is commonly used as a local anaesthetic to relieve pain, or to desensitise skin before minor operations. Common side effects include hypersensitivity reactions.

It must be registered and can only be sold at pharmacies under the supervision of registered pharmacists.
