Commissioner of Police Andy Tsang officiated at the Senior Police Call First Anniversary cum Slogan Composition Contest Presentation Ceremony at the Police Sports & Recreation Club today.

Mr Tsang acknowledged the achievements of the SPC in the past year and encouraged members to continue to help disseminate anti-crime and road safety messages, while at the same time sharing the joy of helping and serving others.

During the year, the SPC organised a series of major events targeting the elderly, including Investment Scam Seminars, the World Cup Anti-illegal Soccer Gambling Campaign, and the Slogan Composition Contest.

At the ceremony today, awards were presented to 18 winners of the Slogan Composition Contest. The winning slogans, carrying fight crime and road safety messages, will be used in SPC promotion in the coming year.

A 58-year-old truck driver died after being struck by his own vehicle in Tsuen Wan today.

He had parked his truck on a slope near 11 Miles, Route Twisk, about 3.45pm, when it reportedly rolled backward over him while he was standing behind it.

He was sent to Yan Chai Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses should call Police on 3661 1300.

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man over the attack on a hawker control officer at the weekend.

Speaking to the media after attending a function today, Commissioner of Police Andy Tsang said the arrestee is not Chinese.

The hawker control officer is in critical condition after he was pushed to the ground in Des Voeux Road on March 15.

Meanwhile, the Police investigation into the Occupy Central movement has been completed and 48 people, suspected of either organising or participating in the unlawful assembly, have been arrested.

The Department of Justice is now studying their cases.
