Customs officers seized 1.8 million illicit cigarettes from two containers at Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal Customs Cargo Examination Compound yesterday.

The haul was valued at $4.9 million with a duty potential of $3.5 million.

Officers inspected the containers, declared to contain electronic parts and LED lights, from an arriving river trade vessel.

The cigarettes were found mix-loaded with general goods.
