Customs officers arrested six people in a one-week raid, seizing 6,400 items of suspected counterfeit sporting apparel worth about $420,000.

Officers seized the goods after they stopped an inbound consignment of suspected counterfeit sporting apparel, searched two storehouses, and raided three mobile hawker stalls the syndicate operated in the New Territories.

Five men and one woman, aged 23 to 52, were arrested.

The department reminded traders that selling goods bearing a forged trademark was a criminal offence, subject to a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a $500,000 fine.
