The Immigration Department has provided assistance to the victims of a fatal traffic accident in Thailand.

 

The department immediately contacted the injured and family of the deceased, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Thailand after learning of the accident.

 

Officers deployed to Thailand visited the injured in hospital today and spoke with the family of the deceased about issues including medical transfer, corpse handling and issuance of relevant documents.

 

The department will keep in contact with the victims, the families, the Commissioner's office and Embassy officials to render further assistance. 

Police have charged a 34-year-old man with the May 13 murder of a 34-year-old woman in Sheung Shui.

 

The suspect was arrested on June 6.

 

The case will be mentioned at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today.
