An 82-year-old woman was killed in an Ngau Tak Kok traffic accident today.

 

She was reportedly struck by a truck on Ngau Tau Kok Road while she was crossing the road near Horse Shoe Lane about 12.50pm.

 

She was sent to United Christian Hospital where she was certified dead.

 

Witnesses should call investigators on 2305 7500.

The Correctional Services Department will recruit 240 Assistant Officers II this financial year. The application deadline is July 30.

 

Correctional officers help people in custody to rehabilitate into society. They seek public support for rehabilitated people to minimise the risk of them reoffending.

 

Candidates undergo a fitness test, an aptitude test, a Basic Law test and an interview.

 

New recruits will undergo 23 weeks of residential training at the Staff Training Institute. The programme covers the laws of Hong Kong and academic subjects such as sociology, counselling and psychology.

 

It also covers scenario training, foot drills, physical fitness training, self-defence, weapons training, first-aid training, helicopter training and emergency response training.
