Customs officers have arrested a 41-year-old man for distributing pirated television shows via peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing software online.

 

The Customs & Excise Department recently received a complaint about the distribution of pirated TV shows via P2P seed files on a discussion forum for people to download.

 

Investigators found the source to be from a local address, and the seeds were distributed on another discussion forum located overseas.

 

Customs officers yesterday raided a home in Sheung Shui and arrested the man, and seized TV recording and computer equipment worth $18,000.

 

He has been released on bail.
