Customs and Police officers shut down a syndicate selling counterfeit goods and arrested a 32-year-old woman following a raid on a showroom in Mong Kok on September 2.

 

They seized more than 2,500 products including leather goods, watches, apparel, sunglasses and accessories worth about $500,000.

 

The Trade Descriptions Ordinance prohibits the sale and possession for sale of goods with a forged trademark. The maximum penalty is a $500,000 fine and five years' imprisonment.

Customs officers found 900g of heroin worth $650,000 at Hong Kong International Airport today.

 

The drugs were found in a parcel from Malaysia to Canada via Hong Kong that was declared as "Candle Holder & Small Plate".

 

The drugs were hidden inside placemats.

 

Drug trafficking is a serious offence that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a $5 million fine.

Customs officers seized 24kg of cut ivory pieces worth $240,000 from a parcel at Hong Kong International Airport on September 2.

 

The parcel, declared as "Decorative Tiles", was sent from Zimbabwe, via Amsterdam.

 

The case has been handed to the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department.
