Customs officers arrested five women, aged 33 to 52, and seized more than 2,700 counterfeit goods worth $43,000 yesterday.

 

Officers raided two wholesale and two retail outlets in Sham Shui Po and seized counterfeit inflatable lanterns, toys and stationery.

 

The department advised consumers to buy from reputable shops, and reminded traders that selling infringing goods is a criminal offence.

 

Call 2545 6182 to report counterfeiting activities.

Customs officers yesterday arrested three men, aged 31 to 50, and seized over 30,000 pirated discs worth about $700,000 from four Wan Chai shops.

 

The discs were mainly Japanese cartoons and movies. Mainland and Hong Kong television dramas and movies were also found.

 

The Customs & Excise Department urged people to respect intellectual property rights.
