A 57-year-old taxi driver was killed in a Tuen Mun traffic accident this afternoon.
 

At about 12.45pm, the man's taxi was leaving a petrol station on Fuk Hang Tsuen Road near Lam Tei. It rammed into a flower bed and then reversed. After the taxi stopped, the driver was found collapsed inside.

He was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital where he was pronounced dead 13.44pm.

Witnesses should call Police on 3661 3800.

Customs officers have arrested two men, aged 25 and 54, and seized 500,000 illicit cigarettes worth $1.2 million and with a duty potential of about $1 million. 

On January 8, customs officers stopped an incoming cross-boundary lorry at the Man Kam To control point and found about 450,000 illicit cigarettes concealed in 33 speakers. A male driver was arrested.

The following day, customs officers carried out a controlled delivery exercise and seized about 50,000 illicit cigarettes from a store house in Kwun Tong. They also arrested a man delivering the illicit cigarettes.

More than 600 people took part in the Correctional Services Department’s annual 10km run at Plover Cove Reservoir in Tai Po today.

Commissioner of Correctional Services Yau Chi-chiu launched the event this morning.

Members of other disciplined services, the Water Supplies Department, the Judiciary, Hong Kong St. John Ambulance staff and students joined serving and retired correctional services officers for the event.

Six teenagers also joined the run for the first time. The new teenage category invited 12 to 15 year olds to run for 2.5km. The aim was to encourage them to experience the atmosphere of the department's sports activities and team spirit, and to help them learn more about the department's work.
